A Directory That Connects

Red Rover replaces the current school directory and adds a few simple powerful features to the typical “search for contact info.”

The Red Rover directory includes:
1) A Profile Picture, Year, Major, and Residence Hall
2) Interests
3) Links to other services

The student has control. (This avoids FERPA issues.) They can enter as much or as little information as they like.

Introductions to “People like you”

By making use of the student selected interests, Red Rover automatically makes introductions to other students over common interests. The simple interface allows the student to easily find people for study groups, social activities, or service opportunities. The students can then connect using any of the online services they already use.

24 / 7 Icebreaker = Social Comfort

Red Rover is linked to the student’s Facebook profile - it is always on and always available. Automatic email newsletters go out to students, showing them three people from the student’s groups and three things they have in common. Every time they go to the school directory, the student gets a reminder that there are people like them all around them. With a picture, Facebook, Twitter, and online services, the students can get to know each other online - making the real world interactions substantially easier for even the shyest student. These new relationships will increase connectedness, engagement, and retention.

Admissions through Orientation

Prospective students can sign up for the directory to find other students like them. These connections will help increase actual enrollment. Schools can begin the orientation process - integrating students into the schools’ community - the second they are accepted. Research shows helping students build relationships and join groups prior to the start of school increases the success rates of the students.

Relevant Communication

There are wonderful relationships, activities and opportunities all over your campus. The Red Rover directory increases participation by increasing the relevancy of communication. This is done by allowing anyone to filter by various interests. They can then send individual messages to other students who have a stated interest. Staff and administrators can send bulk emails by interest - so if there is an exciting basketball event coming up, the directory makes it easy to send a message to everyone that has “Basketball” as an interest. The students can change their interests at anytime, keeping their communication channels open.
